Cashley move to Real Madrid suggested

I dont put much stock into this rumour.

Yes, it was rather odd that Ashley Cole signed only a 1 year extension to his contract last summer, but I simply cannot see him moving to Spain and particularly Real Madrid http://www.tribalfootball.com/may/spanishnews1290506.html given the racist chanting and monkey noises he suffered at the hands of the Spain "supporters" at the Bernabau.

I will offer that the £12m-£16m would be a good return for a left back... but think about it... who wants to spend £16m for a LEFT BACK? Why would Real Madrid's big summer signing be a LEFT BACK? It makes no sense. Its worth noting also that Arsenal dont need the money. And that the likes of Madrid, Barcelona and pretty much every massive club must sell to buy big ticket items over £15m. Only Chelsea... and yes Arsenal do not need to balance the books to 'acquire a player of Cole's level/price.

That said, Clichy is an absolutely fantastic player in the making and we've got Flamini as cover (how strange is that?!?!) as well as Lauren in a pinch. Also, the young Traore in our reserves looks a terrific prospect.

So... should we sell Cashley? I say no... but I wont be gutted if we do given the heavy flirting with Chelsea... and our left back cover... oh and the £16m.

But it wont happen... Real Madrid's big summer purchase will be of the forward variety... with ManUSA Ronaldo being the most likely player to move.
