Transfer - Kyle Bartley (£750 000)

Arsenal have signed another defender. Kyle Bartley has moved from Bolton Wanderers and joined up with the Arsenal U-18s under the watchful eye of Head of Youth Development Liam Brady.

‘We watched him play and moved quickly to get him when he decided he didn't want to sign for Bolton,” said Liam Brady. “He's big and strong, six foot three or thereabouts already and we're looking forward to having him here. I think he will give our Under-18s team something it lacked last season.”

The FA.com describes the 16 year old a physically dominant central defender with great strength, Kyle is an imposing presence at the heart of the defence. His strength and defensive reactions are assured, and he is confident when attacking the ball in the air.

The fee to Bolton is thought to be £750 000 with clauses dependant upon first team appearances on England caps.

Have you heard any more about Gouffran?

It seemed that the deal was wrapped up, he was going to stay at Caen one more year but he's our player.

These other quiet little deals like Bartley and Sunu -- ooh, how Arsene loves to deal in the dark -- simply turn up on arsenal.com because the player is now in the reserves and they have to list him there.

But I suppose the Gouffran deal could have been done and, since he's not coming for year, Arsenal might simply never announce it.

Any noise from Caen or the French press about this?

Surely somebody knows.

Thanks...

Since I'm asking questions and you are the most responsible rumour source I've found, two queries:

1. Is Amana a winger or does he play more in the centre of midfield? In other words, does this one make sense?

2. Let's say, just for fun, that AW is trying to fill two needs -- LW and an additional striker with serious quality.

Do you see any possibility of Eduardo being moved outside and Anelka still being in the frame?

I ask that simply because Arsene became unusually defensive in Amsterdam when asked about Anelka. Normally he offers up cryptic comments and lots of smiles, but this time he said: "Why do keep asking about Anelka?"

His reaction was so out of character that it made me wonder if he might, indeed, be using some of that dosh in his pocket to grab his former child star.

We're already nervous with Ade out for the opener and then the scare with RVP at the end of the Ajax game. We could be short in attack in a heartbeat.

I keep thinking Arsene WOULD spend something like 12 million on Anelka.

Got any ideas?

Oh, one other thing: All this talk about Diarra leaving Chelsea and really wanting a move to Arsenal...

Can any self-righteous Gooner REALLY believe we haven't done a little tapping-up of our own?

Surely AW would want Diarra to know how welcome he'd be. How else to tell him but break the rules?

Arsene just isn't as clumsy as Kenyon and his pals.

Cheers!

I wound up asking you about four questions through the difficult method of posting comments on the Batley story.

I'm an American journalist who has lived in Scotland and still reside there part-time.

Is there a way I can contact you directly?

Thanks.
