Transfer Rumours - Ryan Babel

With Jose Antonio Reyes almost certainly sold on to Barcelona or Seville this summer, the Arsenal will want to inject some pace and directness to complement the skills of pseudo wingers Hleb, Rosicky and Walcott.

Speaking to reporters this week, Babel let slip that he would love to join the Arsenal and have the chance to work with Arsene Wenger.

From when I was young I supported Arsenal. I liked the style, the ambience, how they show themselves on the field - everything. If I get the chance one day to train with (Arsenal manager) Arsene Wenger it would be a dream.

Clever boy.

He's also a mate of Robin Van Persie but more importantly can do this on the pitch.

I watched him play last night against the Belgians and like the match against Portugal he showed an absolutely phenomenal first touch in taking a pass at speed and losing his mark with the cleverest (and directest) of first touches. And like Theo Walcott has some of the skills necessary to be held in football cicrles as "The Next Henry".

TRANSFER POSSIBILTY RATING - 8/10

Issueing come and get me pleas can mean almost anything so Babel's words must be taken with a pinch of salt. That said, we have long been linked with this player even if just by me in January, March, and April. He would fit into our style of play very well and definitely adds something out wide that we were lacking last season. Also, a £6m price tag is precisely the right price range for Arsene Wenger in buying the likes of Rosicky and Hleb. Needless to say, his age fits the profile of an Arsenal forward also.
